Top 50 Fantasy Hockey Players (December 15, 2015)

1. Alex Ovechkin Was – LW/RW (Diff From Last Ranking: -) – He’s still the best, his powerplay production will improve.

2. Tyler Seguin Dal – C/RW (+1) – Has been great, maybe even better than expected.

3. Patrick Kane Chi – C/RW (+9) – Currently on a 26-game point streak.

4. Jamie Benn Dal – LW (+2) – Second part of the best offensive duo in the NHL.

5. Erik Karlsson Ott – D (+4) – Defenseman that puts up elite offensive numbers. Is first in the East in points.

6. Evgeni Malkin Pit – C/RW (-1) – The Pens have struggled mightily, but Malkin has still put up respectable numbers that should improve.

7. Sidney Crosby Pit – C (-5) – His numbers will improve, but by how much?

8. Henrik Lundqvist NYR – G (+8) – Ranked a bit higher because so many of the top offensive players are struggling.

9. Braden Holtby Was – G (+23) – Has arguably been the best and most consistent goalie this year.

10. Taylor Hall Edm – C/LW (+26) – Monster season so far, great value if you drafted him close to 50th overall.

11. John Tavaras NYI – C (-7) – Struggling a bit like many other stars, but will rebound.

12. Vladimir Tarasenko Stl – RW (+1) – His +/- is currently sitting at even, that should improve.

13. Claude Giroux Phi – C/RW (-6) – Just about as advertised, good numbers everywhere except for +/-.

14. Dustin Byfuglien Wpg – RW/D (+6) – Even if he’s not scoring he’s valuable because of PIMs and SOGs.

15. Joe Pavelski SJ – C/LW/RW (-) – Has been about as expected, not that it’s a bad thing.

16. P.K. Subban Mtl – D (+2) – Only 1 goal so far but he does have 20 assists.

17. Max Pacioretty Mtl – LW (+4) – Was white hot at the begging of the year, but has slowed down a bit since.

18. Daniel Sedin Van – LW (+27) – The Sedins are proving that they are still elite.

19. Steven Stamkos TB – C (-9) – Another guy that has struggled this year.

20. Corey Perry Ana – RW (+3) – Horrible start to the year but has turned it around.

21. John Klingberg Dal – D (NR) – Dallas has been on fire and Klingberg has been taking advantage.

22. Brent Burns SJ – RW/D (+6) – Would be elite if not for the -15 plus-minus rating.

23. Kevin Shattenkirk Stl – D (+4) – Was injured earlier in the year but has been on fire for the past month.

24. Carey Price Mon – G (-10) – Is currently on the injured reserve.

25. Nathan MacKinnon Col – C/RW (NR) – In a bit of a slump but that shouldn’t last long.

26. Blake Wheeler Wpg – RW (+13) – One of the most under-rated players in the game.

27. Nicklas Backstrom Was – C (+19) – If only he took more shots.

28. Jakub Voracek Phi – RW (-19) – Has been shifted to LW in an attempt to spark his game.

29. Zach Parise Min – LW (+6) – Had an injury earlier in the year but is now back on track.

30. Justin Faulk Car – D (NR) – Turning into an elite defender, though don’t expect a good +/- on Carolina.

31. Ben Bishop TB – G (+2) – Has been really good enough though Tampa has struggled a bit.

32. Jeff Carter LA – C/RW (NR) – Doesn’t produce a lot on the PP, but his great +/- makes up for it.

33. Corey Crawford Chi – G (-2) – Is coming off back-to-back shutouts.

34. Henrik Zetterberg Det – C/LW (-) – Still produces.

35. Jake Allen Stl – G (NR) – Has taken over the starting role in St. Louis.

36. Jonathan Quick LA – G (-9) – Los Angeles has been heating up and looks like a legit contender.

37. Alex Steen Stl – C/LW (+3) – He’s pretty good.

38. Rick Nash NYR – LW/RW (-16) – May have been a bit over-rated at the start of the year.

39. Patrice Bergeron Bos – C (NR) – Has been really good this year.

40. John Carlson Was – D (NR) – Is turning into an elite defender.

41. Roman Josi Nas – D (NR) – One half of the best defensive pairing in the NHL.

42. Shea Weber Nas – D (-) – Hard to put much separation between him and Josi.

43. Jonathan Toews Chi – C (-18) – Has been good, but remember he’s better in real life than in fantasy.

44. Gabriel Landeskog Col – LW (NR) – Is currently playing on a line with MacKinnon and Duchene.

45. Pavel Datsyuk Det – C (+2) – Starting to get up to speed after returning from injury.

46. Ryan Suter Min – D (-) – Is in the midst of a bounce-back season offensively.

47. Ryan Johansen Cls – C/RW (-18) – Like his team, he hasn’t lived up to the beginning-of-season hype.

48. James Neal Nsh – LW/RW (NR) – Has been solid.

49. Mike Hoffman Ott – C/LW (NR) – One of the biggest fantasy surprises this season.

50. Mike Cammalleri NJ – C/LW (NR) – Another candidate for the biggest fantasy surprise.
